After unloading a half dozen white trash bags and a duffel bag stuffed with clothing, shoes and toiletries, Ron van Etten sat down for a haircut. A new haircut and clothing signaled a fresh start for van Etten and many others Monday.

Tools will benefit Ugandan vocational school 
Russ Cahill of Olympia may soon be known as the “tool man” in Uganda. Cahill plans to send off about 300 pounds of tools today to assist a poor vocational school in the southern part of the African nation.

Bomb kills Amphi grad, 43, in Iraq 
A Tucson native who graduated from Amphitheater High School in 1982 was killed in Iraq when a bomb exploded near his vehicle, authorities said.
