Fire rekindles in dilapidated home’s basement

Debris from a fire that razed a Bunker Hill Road home Thursday night rekindled Friday morning. Central City Fire Department was dispatched back to the scene at 8:54 a.m. after some debris fell into the basement and caught fire.

Kansas Basketball Notebook 
It looked as though Texas A&M was trying to foul Sasha Kaun with KU up 64-61 and about 1:30 left on the clock. After Marlon Pompey was tangled up with Kaun more than once as KU dribbled up court, a foul finally was called and Kaun a poor free-throw shooter clanked the front end of the 1-and-1.

Be wary of kitchen remodeling deals 
We recently came across a newspaper advertisement inviting readers to take advantage of an “unbelievable” kitchen remodeling “package” for just under $10,000! The display showed a photo of a lovely kitchen, and even offered to throw in a free sink with presentation of the ad.

Customer Service 
(CP) – Gilbert Arenas is at his best when he’s his laid-back self. He proved it Saturday night, psyching himself out of a rematch with Kobe Bryant by trying the serious approach.

Jay’s Blog 
Hope you made it through the first “true” winter storm this weekend in fine fashion. We reported on several minor accidents Sunday and Monday due to slick road conditions. That seems to happen a lot, especially for the first storm of the season.

Community News 
Keeping traditional wastewater treatment facilities in compliance with state and federal regulations is an uphill struggle for municipalities, industry and self-served residential developments.
